Sneak Preview: New 2018 15’0 Voyager Tandem Inflatable SUP from Red Paddle Co

During July’s 2017 Outdoor Retailer Summer Show, Red Paddle Co unveiled their super 2018 inflatable SUP product line, once again showing what makes the company stand out from the pack.

One new model for 2018 is the Voyager Tandem 15’0.” Billed as a multi-person touring and long-distance exploring workhorse, the Voyager Tandem is an ultra-sleek beast capable of carrying 2 to 3 paddlers. With a whopping 8-inch (200mm) thickness and a 34 inch beam, the Voyager 2 logically fills the gap between solo paddling and “party barges” such as the 17-foot Red Paddle Co Ride XL for up to 8 paddlers.
Two “deck pads” with side handles allow paddlers to position themselves on the board for optimum paddling, while two sets of bungee-deck lacing with d-rings provide ample storage space for camping gear. Three more carry handles – fore, aft and center for a total of seven – provide numerous carrying configurations and more spots to attach gear.
The new Voyager Tandem features the high-level of construction and materials that paddlers have come to expect from Red Paddle Co – advanced Monocoque Structural Laminate (MSL) fusion technology, heat-treated seams, layered rail tape and premium inflation valves. The MSL technology creates a highly durable board – both lighter weight and rigid – capable of being pumped up to high pressures. For ease in setup, two military valves allow two people to pump up the board at the same time.
The Voyager Tandem offers a myriad of paddling stances for those that like to travel together – from “both standup paddling” to both sitting/kneeling or one paddling and the other “along for the voyage.” The board is capable of carrying a ton of camping equipment, or remove one cargo section and bring along a small child or canine companion.
The Voyager Tandem comes in a slightly enlarged Red Paddle Original All-Terrain Backpack replete with two pumps – a Titan dual barrel pump as well as an HP pump – repair kit, removable US Box fin and bonus cell-phone case.
MSRP is $1999, making it a more economical choice for those who enjoy paddling together, rather than buying two individual boards.
The Voyager Tandem 15’0″ will be available in late 2017. Stay tuned for more info, or email AirKayaks to get on the notification list.

Product Review: New 2016 Red Paddle Co Sport 12’6″ Inflatable SUP Board

We have avidly been awaiting the arrival of the 2016 Red Paddle Co product line. Recently, the truck rolled in and we had our first opportunity to take a look at the new Red Air inflatable SUPS, consisting of 17 models. New for this year are three boards – the 8’10” Whip, the Explorer Plus 13’2″, and the Sport 12’6″.

Founded in 2007, Red Paddle Company is a UK-based business focused solely on the design and manufacture of inflatable paddle boards and accessories.
For 2016, Red Paddle Co has streamlined many of the current models, focusing on technology improvements; the mantra this year is “stronger, stiffer, lighter.” And indeed, the new product line is quite a bit lighter. The introduction of a technological advance termed MSL (Monocoque Structural Laminate) fusion technology has resulted in boards that weight up to 10 lbs lighter than previous models, without sacrificing soundness or rigidity.
Included in this shipment is the new Sport 12-6 ISUP – a 30-inch wide, sleek, inflatable cruising model reminiscent of the original Race 12’6″ – featuring 150mm drop-stitch material and the revolutionary new rocker stiffening system (RSS).
So we begin our first in the series on the new 2016 models, featuring the Sport 12-6. (Please note: Some of this will be repeated from previous write-ups.)
Red Paddle Co Sport 12-6: Getting Started
The box as received weighs 39.5 lbs, measuring 37 x 15 x 15 inches.

Inside the box is the SUP body, two RSS side battens, Titan dual-barrel pump, pressure gauge, backpack, cinch belt, removable fin, instructions and repair kit – as well as a bonus cell phone case. Once rolled up, the SUP board and paddle fit into the backpack, as well as optional breakdown paddles under 37 inches.

Weight is 35 lbs for backpack, board and pump, which all easily fit in the back of a small car. The board alone is approximately 23 lbs.
The Red Paddle Sport 12-6 inflatable SUP arrives rolled up around the high pressure Titan pump, inside the backpack.
Instructions are located inside the cell phone case, attached to the zipper pull on the bag.

For your first set up, remove and unroll the SUP body. Lay it out face up so that you can access the military valve.

The Red Air Sport 12-6 utilizes one spring-loaded military valve for inflation. These are very simple to use and feature a deflate mode (spring plunger is DOWN) and inflate mode (spring plunger is UP). By using your finger to push on the plunger, it can be moved to the inflate mode (air goes in and doesn’t come back out) and deflate mode (air goes in and comes back out). Before you go to all the effort of inflating the board, PLEASE make sure the plunger

New 2016 Red Paddle Co Inflatable Paddle Board SUP Lineup

We recently received details on Red Paddle Company’s exciting new inflatable SUP lineup being introduced for 2016.
Well-known throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand, the Red Paddle Co line has steadily gained traction in the US. Noted for their ruggedness and performance, each of the Red Air boards utilize high pressure drop-stitch technology – allowing them to be inflated from 15-25 PSI – and feature quadruple rail construction, double layering, thick traction pads and fins.
For 2016, Red Paddle Co has 17 models for surfing, whitewater, recreation, touring and racing, ranging in size from 8’10” to 17’0. This includes the introduction of 3 new models, revamped graphics on several of the current models, and one retiring model. Prices are generally remaining the same as in 2015.

The major change for 2016 is the introduction of a technologically innovative new process named Monocoque Structural Laminate (MSL) fusion technology. Standard dropstitch construction consists of time-consuming hand-gluing of layers, potentially resulting in uneven glue application causing air leakages and bubbling. This innovative new technology involves fusing a second layer of polymer to the drop-stitch material in the raw material stage, reducing human errors. The end result is a higher-quality, high-pressure material utilizing less glue; this reduces the weight of each board approximately 20% while increasing the tension and making the boards slightly more rigid. The 2016 Red Paddle inflatable boards now weigh from 15 to 25 lbs, down from 20 to 34 lbs.
Many of the deck pads have undergone a redesign, now comprised of machine-pressed, thermosealed, low-relief finishes, utilizing less glue thus decreasing air bubbles. While most feature the “crocodile” finish deck pads, all boards needing extra grip also include a diamond pattern.
Additional tweaks include stainless steel d-rings for deck tie-downs and updated 6.75″ US fin boxes on models utilizing removable fins. Carrying handles are now softer, with several models featuring an additional rear carry handle with integrated d-ring loop.

One of the new models is the introduction of the 13′ 2″ Explorer Plus, a streamlined expedition board with a longer waterline. While sharing many similarities to the popular Explorer 12-6, the 13′-2 Plus boasts a slimmer, 30-inch beam with squared-off tail for stability. Extended bungee deck-lacing, multiple d-rings, 5 carrying handles and grip spots make this a great choice for longer excursions or situations where carrying capacity and performance are required. Carrying capacity 330 lbs, weight 24 lbs. MSRP $1649. The current Explorer 12-6 remains virtually the same with an added rear handle and updated graphics but now with a lower weight of 25 lbs. MSRP $1599.

At the opposite side of the spectrum, the new Whip 8-10 replaces the Surfstar 9-2. With a wide nose, narrow tail, a slimmer beam, the RSS batten system and removable

Well-known throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand, the Red Air line has steadily gained traction in the US. Noted for their ruggedness and performance, each of the Red Air boards utilize high pressure drop-stitch technology – allowing them to be inflated from 15-25 PSI – and feature quadruple rail construction, double layering, thick traction pads and fins.

The 2015 line has been redesigned, culminating in a striking, easily identifiable look. Color options have been decreased, with emphasis on categorizing boards by usage. For 2015, Red Paddle Co has 12 models for surfing, touring and racing, ranging in size from 9’2 to 14’0. This includes the introduction of 3 new models, revamped graphics on the current nine models, and four retiring models.
For 2015, Red Paddle Co has expanded the best-selling Ride to three versions perfect for all-around use – the Ride 9-8, the Ride 10-6 and the Ride 10-8. Each of the three models features d-rings, bungee deck lacing and three fixed fins.

The Ride 9-8 combines the best characteristics of the 9-6 AllWater and the Surfer/Venus 10-0 to create a great all-around and surfing board for riders up to 80 and 95kg, respectively. With a 31 inch beam, the Ride 9-8 is built from 100mm material, creating a responsive board that is 3.93 inches thick, but fitted with the Rocker Stiffening System (RSS) for increased rigidity. Capacity up to 180/lbs all-around or 210 lbs surfing. MSRP $1299.

The popular Ride 10-6 features the same best-selling features with an updated look. A classic model, great for cruising, small wave surfing, fishing, exploring. Specifications: 10’6 x 32 inches wide, 120mm/4.72 inches thick, capacity 225 lbs.  MSRP $1299.

The 10-8 Ride is a revamped 10-8 Mega, appealing to families or the larger paddler. With a (now) narrower beam of 34 inches, and a board construction of 120mm material, the 10-8 Ride is a rigid, super-stable 4.72 inches thick, providing lots of buoyancy for beefier or multiple paddlers, while still maintaining responsiveness. Good for cruising, small wave surfing, fishing, exploring, boat tender Capacity up to 265 lbs. MSRP $1379

The new Sport 11-0 RSS joins the lineup, perfectly positioned between the Rides and the 12-6 boards. Sneak Preview: New 11 &12.5 ft Airis HollowDeck Inflatable SUP Paddle Boards

Airis Inflatables of North America – a division of Walker Bay Boats – has announced two new inflatable paddle board products – the 11 ft and 12.5 ft Airis Hollowdeck SUPs.

The new Airis Hollowdeck SUPS feature a unique, integrated, dry bag system, allowing paddlers to store gear inside the nose of the board, as well as on top. The compartment remains waterproof by utilizing the roll-top and clip feature, and the paddler is not hampered by gear strapped to the top – though that option remains.

By creating an air pocket in the snout of the board, set up time is decreased by about 1/3, as there is less air to pump into the SUP.
The new Airis  HollowDecks also feature two separate air chambers for added safety, unlike most paddle boards which utilize one.

Available in two sizes, the 11 foot version sports a slightly narrower tail and width than the 12.5 foot model. Both models feature the proprietary RigiDeck fiberglass plates, providing increased rigidity under foot. Each is 6 inches thick and can be pumped up to 11 PSI.
All Airis inflatable kayaks and paddle boards are manufactured in North America.
The new HollowDecks will be available in December – MSRP $999 and $1099.  The HollowDecks join the popular series of Airis HardTop inflatable boards – the HT 12-6, the HT SUV 11 and the HT Stubby 9.
Watch the Airis Product Pages at AirKayaks.com for upcoming details, or send us an email and request to get on the Airis HollowDeck notification list.
